The mystery that unfolded at the Maya Ruins at Copán was resolved in Book One and Lucy Shaw’s world was turned upside down in the process. At the same time, the episodes of this portion of the novel similarly turned the world of James Fee upside down; he emerged from it a changed man. Book Two explores what became of James and Lucy in the aftermath of these tumultuous events and, in particular, how they changed James Fee. Theirs was, after all, a collision of two very differing backgrounds and two opposing worldviews. Book Two explores how this collision was resolved and how their worlds found space for each other.
